Kenya’s football federation on Thursday appointed Sébastien Migne as the head coach of the national team, taking over from Paul Put who resigned from the position in February.
Migne has previously coached the Democratic Republic of Congo U-20 national team. He became the first coach to qualify the DR Congo youth team for continental championships.
The Frenchman also worked in Togo as an assistant to Claude Le Roy during the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
Migne signed a three-year contract that will keep him with the Harambee Stars until May 2021.
The 45-year-old, just like his predecessor, left his DR Congo job half way through a two year contract.
FKF President Nick Mwendwa has termed the arrival of Migne has a blessing to Kenyan football. “We sourced around and picked on Migne because of his vast experience in Africa.
“We now have the right man to take us places and we now hope that the fans and all stakeholders will accord him the support he needs,” sports website Goal.com quotes Mwendwa.
Since the resignation of Put, Stanley Okumbi, also a former Harambee Stars coach, was in charge of the team on a caretaker basis.
