At least one soldier was killed after armed rebels attacked a house belonging to the Democratic Republic of Congo’s President Joseph Kabila in the restive east.
Conflict has heightened in the region in recent months, forcing mass displacements of residents.
Kabila was not in the house during the attack reported to have been conducted by the Mai-Mai militiamen.
The attack was the second on a presidential residence in three months.
The DR Congo has been dogged by conflict since December 2016 following the failure by Kabila to step down at the end of his term.
The country did not conduct a presidential vote to find his replacement, meaning he stayed on as president.
The electoral authority said then that it was unable to conduct the vote due to logistical challenges.
The opposition however accused Kabila of frustrating the electoral process to cling on to power.
The country is however scheduled to hold the vote on 23 December.
