Egypt, Burkina Faso biggest losers in new FIFA ranking

Egypt and Burkina Faso are the biggest losers in the latest FIFA ranking published on Thursday by the world football body.

The two sides deteriorated 13 slots each, with the North African side slipping from position 30 to 43 while Burkina Faso went down to position 57 from 44 in January.

The Pharaohs now stand fifth best in Africa, having previously been the third best side in the continent.

Fellow North African side Tunisia remains the best side from Africa, ranked 23 in the global ranking.

The biggest gainer from the continent was Congo Brazaville, which moved up eight spots; from position 96 in January to 88 now.

Sudan also made a significant improvement, climbing up six slots; from 124 previously to 118 currently.

Generally, the top end of the global standings remained unchaned owing to the fact that no international game was played since the last ranking.

Germany leads the pack, followed by Brazil and Portugal.
