One killed, 12 injured in Egypt’s hot air balloon crash

A tourist believed to be South African was killed and 12 other people injured when a hot air balloon crash near Luxor in Egypt on Friday, a health ministry official said, AFP reports.
The Daily Sabah quotes an official say that Friday’s incident was caused by strong winds that forced the balloon off its course above the city’s pharaonic temples and tombs.
The health ministry said a woman was killed and 12 people injured but gave no other details.
Luxor governor Mahmoud Badr said he was at a hospital in the city checking on passengers taken there, and that a statement would be released soon.
In 2013, a hot air balloon caught fire in mid-flight over Luxor, killing 19 tourists. The accident was later blamed on a gas leak.
