Egypt’s Ministry of Defence has released a video showing the country’s military carrying out air strikes on what they said were militant outposts.
The strikes were conducted in response to Friday’s deadly mosque attack in North Sinai, which killed at least 305 people, including 27 children.
The attack also left another 128 people injured.
The assault conducted on the al Rawdah Sufi mosque in Bir al-Abed is reported to have been carried out by between 25 to 30 armed men.
Following that attack, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said he would ensure justice for the victims, pledging to use an iron fist in cracking down terrorism in the North African country.
In a televised statement El-Sisi sent a message of condolence to the families affected by the deadly attack, saying that the “vile and treacherous” act would not pass without a decisive punishment, and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
Though no claim of responsibility has been received yet, local media report local sources to say the attackers hoisted banners of the Islamic State terror group.
