Read < 1 minute

This latest attack comes as the Somali army and African Union peacekeepers are planning to launch an offensive against al-Shabaab.

Officials at the African Union have confirmed the mission in Somalia, AMISOM, will lead the offensive. As CGTN’s Girum Chala reports,

A new and an aggressive offensive is said to be under formulation all in the name of defeating Al shaabab once and for all.

The African Union led mission in Somalia, AMISOM is said to be the leader of this offensive alongside the Somali national army.

Already troops from Ethiopia, Uganda and Djibouti have shown positive support for President Abdullahi Fermajo’s attack plans.

According to the African Union officials, so far AMISOM has played a key role in stabilising Somalia and keep Al-Shaabab away from most parts of the country.

Military analysts have however warned that with the unpredictable tactic the militants are using, eliminating the deadly acts of Al shabaab could take more lives and resources than it is already being anticipated,
