19th CPC National Congress: Overview

The Communist Party of China’s (CPC) 19th National Congress is scheduled to open on Wednesday morning at the Great Hall of the People in the center of the Chinese capital, Beijing.

A total of 2,287 delegates are set to attend the important Congress, which comes once every five years.

The event introduces new leadership and maps out the nation’s development for the next five years and beyond.

All 38 delegations arrived in Beijing on Monday evening, representing all walks of life.

Many expect big things from the grand gathering.

Delegates will discuss the amendment of the Party Constitution and elect a new CPC Central Committee and a new Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

The Congress is held at a critical time for the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The expectations of the people and new requirements for the development of the country and the Party will be taken into account.
