Ethiopia praises China’s progress under President Xi

Ethiopia has made a high evaluation of China’s development assistance in recent years.

Ahead of the upcoming 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the country’s President Mulatu Teshome has praised the party’s policies, which he believes will guide the government to greater development.

“Of course, the Communist Party of China is always coming up with the new formulation of policies which is going to guide the government in the next phase of the socio- economic development, he said in an exclusive interview with CGTN.

Teshome also praised President’s Xi Jinping’s leadership and his achievements over the past five years, which he said will be further strengthened in the years ahead. This he said will also be in the best interests for his country.

“So what I think is that the consolidation of the last five year achievements under the guidance of president Xi Jinping will continue and gains and achievements which the Chinese people have acquired in the last five years- it will be further strengthened and that strengthening of the benefit of the Chinese people, the Chinese government and People’s Republic of China in general is in the interest of Ethiopia’s people,” he said.

The president noted that China’s development agenda and policies are not confined to its borders alone.

He praised the country for extending its resources in the development agenda.

“When China is implementing its right policies development of this cooperation, its extending its resources beyond its boundaries for trade, investment and for assisting developing countries in all its endeavors, and Ethiopia is going to definitely be benefited.”

He urged for continued cooperation between the two countries.

“So we are looking forward for the continuation of the policies which have been benefiting both countries in respecting each other, benefiting from each other and to be the best partners- exemplary partners of development and friendly countries.”
