Scores feared dead in “biggest” Somalia explosion
Scores are feared dead after a car bomb exploded on a busy street in the center of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, a blast our reporter there terms the biggest he’s heard in years.
There has been no claim of responsibility, although jihadist group al-Shabaab has carried out numerous attacks in the country.
The militant group has waged a near-decade long war in the Horn of African country, seeking to topple government and instill a strict sharia-based system of governance.
Biggest blast I’ve ever heard in #Mogadishu in years. A huge VBIED has gone off at Zoobe Area in downtown Mogadishu. #Somalia. pic.twitter.com/OO4fYNfSge

An emergency service provider is on the scene evacuating the injured. It says it will give an update on the death toll once confirmed.
We can't give any update yet due to the massive casualties of the explosion. Stay tune @AaminAmbulance #Mogadishu pic.twitter.com/YbP0QyTJBT
