The four-day Seventh Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) came to an end on Saturday in the capital Beijing, with a communiqué issued.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, entrusted by the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a work report, which was discussed at the plenum.

Xi, also the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, gave an account of the agenda discussed in the four day national event.

It was decided at the plenum that the 19th CPC National Congress will be convened from Oct. 18 in Beijing, according to the communiqué.

The 2017 CPC meeting comes on the back of a report that shows that many Chinese are satisfied with the government’s anti-corruption campaigns in 2016, which indicated a 17.9 percent increase compared to 2012.

It shows that by the end of 2016, 17 disciplinary officials were investigated and 7,900 others were punished.
