A cargo plane on Saturday crashed into the sea off Cote d’Ivoire, close to the Abidjan Airport, killing four people and injuring six others.

The wreckage of the turboprop plane that was carrying ten people was swept toward a beach where rescuers treated the survivors.

All the four men that were killed are Moldoval nationals, while four French nationals and two Moldovans were injured.

Local authorities said the plane had been trying to land when it crashed.

According to Reuters news agency, the plane crash occurred during a storm with heavy lightning.

The plane was a Ukrainian-made Antonov chartered by the French army as part of its anti-jihadist Operation Barkhane, a French military source told AFP.
