Raila Odinga withdraws from Kenya’s presidential vote

Raila Odinga has withdrawn his candidature for the Kenya’s presidential election slated for October 26.
The opposition leader made the announcement on Tuesday in the capital Nairobi, accusing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of frustrating efforts to ensure a credible vote.
The East African country’s presidential election conducted on August 8 was nullified by the Supreme Court on September 1, citing malpractices in the transmission and tallying processes.
The court ordered a repeat of the vote in 60 days.
The opposition NASA coalition has initially demanded reforms to the electoral body, calling for weekly protests to push for the changes.
It published a list of 12 IEBC officials who it demanded should resign for alleged involvement in the electoral malpractices.
The ruling Jubilee party however dismissed the oppositions demands, saying it was in a ploy to bully the electoral authority into doing things their way.
The opposition have called for new protests on Wednesday to push for the reforms at IEBC.
