AU expresses shock, calls for gun control laws in the U.S.

The African Union (AU) has expressed shock over the killing of 59 Americans in Las Vegas by a lone gunman.
“On behalf of His Excellency Mouusa Faki Mahmat, I would like to express deep condolences to the Unites States,” AU Deputy Chairperson Kwesi Quartey said.
“I hope that they can find peace in this time of grief.”
The Deputy Chair also called on the United States to consider serious gun control strategies to prevent the occurrence of such killings.
A lone gunman identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock on Sunday night opened fire from the windows of his room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, killing 59 people and injuring more than 500 at a country music festival.
Police stormed his room and found he had killed himself.
The motive behind for Paddock’s shooting incident has not been established. Investigations are going on.
On Wednesday, police revealed they were in contact with the gunman’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who had just flown back into the U.S. from the Philippines.
