Cote d’ Ivoire cocoa production increases by 28.5 percent

Read < 1 minute

The world’s largest producer of cocoa, Cote d’Ivoire, has registered a marked increase in the crop’s production.

In the 2019-2017 season, a record 28.5 percent increase was recorded. There is however little to celebrate since the country’s Cocoa sector is in a crisis spurred by falling prices of cocoa on the international market.

Cocoa exports account for 50 percent of Ivory Coast’s exports, as well as a third of the West African nation’s jobs.
