China’s PLA becomes more confident and active in international sphere
China’s total defense budget for 2017 is to surpass 1 trillion Yuan, for the first time, that is about $150 billion.
Some of the money that defense budget helps out with is… China’s engagement with the rest of the world.
The country’s military is becoming more active in exchanges be it in military training or defense talks and is taking up more international responsibilities.
Ning Hong reports.
Africa has benefited more from military engagement in troubled regions across the continent. A new military logistics was opened in Djibouti and according to China’s foreign ministry the center will be instrumental in pacifying the Eastern Africa region.
It will also support the over all African Union peace and security architecture. The ministry said China will prove its integrity by delivering the intended mission so as to quash any doubt around the center’s value.
CGTN’s Girum Chala reports from Beijing.
Hurdles are also there because it has not been easy for the Chinese soldiers under the United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.
Despite losing two infantry men in 2016, the team of blue helmets from China are still going strong, helping keep maintain peace.
