The government of Somalia has threatened to confiscate the businesses of citizens paying taxes the terrorist group Al Shabaab after receiving reports of the practice, report Africa News.

“We will hold accountable and confiscate every business center, large or small that pays tax to al Shabaab. The government will not tolerate funding the group,” Somalia’s security minister Mohamed Abukar Dualle said.

The Minister further demanded that all telecommunications companies that provide any services provided to al Shabaab, to stop immediately, in addition for all businesses managing the terrorist group’s finances to stop. The government will take to court those who fail to comply with the orders.

The terrorist group banned the Somali Shilling in the central and southern regions under its control over alleged influx of fake notes last week, bringing business to a standstill since the 1000 shilling banknote is the only Somali currency in circulation.

Some Somali traders have been using the Ethiopian currency in respect of the instructions by the terrorists according to a report by Somalia’s Dalsan Radio in Mogadishu.
