Somali government grants a $40K monthly stipend for the former President

The government of Somalia has approved a 40,000USD monthly retirement income for the former top leader, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, reports Africa News.

The monthly stipend is to cover security, living, travel expenses and provide for his family as well.

Ex-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who currently lives in Tanzania will start receiving the stipend after an approval by the parliament. The former leader is expected to relocate to Mogadishu soon.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud lost the February 8 elections to the current President Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed Farmajo.
