Residents in Livingstone, Zambia endured long hours of black out after a baboon interfered with the machinery at a power station, reports ZNBC.

The baboon is undergoing treatment after surviving an electrical shock – due to its highly insulated palms as compared to humans- according to ZESCO, the country’s power utility, spokesperson Henry Kapata.

Mr. Kapata insisted that the power disturbance has nothing to do with load-shedding but just an accident involving a curious animal.

“The lines the baboon was tampering with are extremely high voltage. You can see that it was electrocuted in so many ways but it has survived. It is an animal, we cannot prosecute it otherwise if it was a human we would have taken it to court,” said Henry Kapata.
