Kenyan presidential hopeful Raila Odinga has urged his supporters not to engage in sexual activity on the eve of the country’s general elections, in order to ensure they participate in the vote.

The former prime minister made the call for the second time on Monday during a campaign rally he led in Homa Bay County.

“August 8 will be a historic day and no vote will be left without being cast. Men will sleep outside. When the day comes, no man should sleep with a woman,” he said.

He had initially made the plea last month, telling his supporters that sex is a bad omen before such activities.

Raila further asked the youth to ensure they participate in the vote to ensure his NASA coalition wins the presidency.

Raila is President Uhuru Kenyatta’s main challenger in the upcoming election according to opinion polls.

Uhuru will be seeking a second and final mandate, having beaten Raila to the top seat in the 2013 vote.

Raila will however be giving the presidency a last try, having failed thrice in the past.

The presidential vote has attracted a total of eight aspirants; namely Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, Joseph Nyagah, Ekuru Aukot, Japheth Kavinga, Abduba Dida, Michael Wainaina and Cyrus Jirongo
