Everton’s Koeman excited ahead of Tanzania trip
Everton’s coach Ronald Koeman has expressed his delight at his team’s upcoming trip to Tanzania, where they are scheduled to play Kenyan side Gor Mahia.
The game against the Kenyan giants will offer Everton fans a chance to see England legend Wayne Rooney in the blue colors again after 13 years.
The game will be played at the 60,000-capacity National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, and will be the first pre-season game for the English side ahead of the new Premier League season that kicks off next month.
“I’ve been several times to Africa but never to Tanzania,” Koeman said. “I’m looking forward to it.”
The tactician also praised the organization of the game, saying it will not affect the club’s pre-season negatively.
“It’s always difficult in pre-season to go a long way abroad because it will be hot over there and we need to play the friendly. But with the way we have organised it, we leave on Tuesday evening and are back on Friday. That’s good because it’s not too long and it won’t have a negative effect on our pre-season,” he said.
Everton open their 2017/18 campaign on August 12 at home against Stoke City.
