An eight year old girl was raped to death by a stranger who broke into her room through the window while she was sleeping, reports the Daily Observer.
The grade 2 pupil who schools in the West Coast Region of Gambia was violated to death on Monday morning in her home village in Kombo district in North District of the West African nation.
Emotions were high as the shocked community called on the authorities to investigate and nab the culprit.
It was the girl’s mother who caught the rapist on the act when she work up to go check on her daughter to take her to relieve herself but the suspect fled before he could be captured. They found the girl with bruises on her neck and blood stains on her clothe.
The rapist is reported to have closed the little girl’s mouth with a wrapper before having canal knowledge of her. The girl was announced death when she reached the hospital.
Another source told the Daily Observer that two rape cases were reported at the Banjulinding police station on that faithfully day (Monday).
