The inventor of Counter 9 is Cebisile Madi, a pharmacist with experience in retail pharmacy, pharmaceutical sales and courier pharmacy.

Madi guarantees that the APP will help those in need get up-to-date information about their medical conditions and medicines they’re taking.

“Initially my thought was to develop an app that would provide medical information, as a pharmacist. I had an idea that people don’t really have enough information when it comes to medical conditions that they may suffer from and how those interact with drugs that they are taking so that they will be able to check side effects, any contra indications between the medical conditions and drugs and also any interactions between drugs that they are taking, whether it’s over the counter drugs or chronic medication,” said Cebisile Madi, developer, Counter 9 App.

After conducting research, Madi realized that in fact the real need is accessing medication seamlessly. So, the mobile application allows customers to upload prescriptions, order over-the-counter products, multivitamins, supplements, medical devices and homeopathic products. Then have them delivered at a place time of their convenience.

“Currently people are striving for convenience, clients look for convenience and waiting on queues, multiple queues is just not convenient for clients. So the feedback has been actually positive from the users side and also from the pharmacies in terms of client loyalty. For example, if you have a client that has to consult a doctor at the medical center and then there is a pharmacy next door, most of the time they will just go to thy pharmacy to fill their prescription where as if they are on counter9 they just send the script directly to you as a pharmacy. So you are not loosing patients just because they are not within your vicinity. So that’s excellent for the pharmacies as well,” said Cebisile Madi, developer, Counter 9 App.

So far, Counter 9 has over 10 thousand registered users.

“I am hoping to merge access to health care with the client’s increasing need for convenience without compromising the valued interaction between the client and the pharmacist,” said Cebisile Madi, developer, Counter 9 App.

So, no more waiting on queues, no more faxing and emailing of prescriptions. Madi says Counter 9 will expand to other areas in due course.
