Four supporters of Nairobi nominee Mike Sonko are in hospital after being electrocuted during campaigning in the city on Wednesday.

They were on the roof of a lorry in a convoy when they knocked into overhead live electricity cables on Haile Selassie Avenue.

The four fell off the vehicle and were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital.

A 14-year-old boy was among the injured. The others are Peterson Juma, 30, Robert Mutia, 18, and a fourth victim who was not immediately identified, according to local media.

Police said that the four were admitted to hospital in a “fair condition”.

The convoy was heading to the city’s Kariokor section to lift support for Mr Sonko and his running-mate Polycarp Igathe.

Sonko currently serves as Senator of Nairobi, and is running under “Team Nairobi” for the capital’s governor’s seat.
