Kenya’s new railway service to be launched on May 31st

The Standard Gauge Railway is Kenya’s biggest project since independence. The first phase which runs from Mombasa to Nairobi costs about $3.8 billion.

Since the project began in late 2013, Kenya’s standard gauge railways has employed tens of thousands of Kenyans in its first phase.

Some Kenyans says they are yet to see the benefits, economists say the project was necessary given Kenya’s strategic location.

According to Economist Ali Khan Satchu it is after the service is launched that Kenyans experience the benefits of the new railway
