Botswana’s government has overcome opposition from its tourism bosses to introduce a $30 tax on all visitors entering the country.

It’s part of efforts to raise money to support conservation in the safari hotspot. The Botswana Tourism Organisation says the fee will be charged at all border posts from June 1st.  Residents of countries within the SADC region will be exempt from the charge. Botswana is popular with tourists seeking to spot the Big Five on safaris.

It also boasts the Okavango Delta, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.
