African and Asian countries to work together in wildlife conservation
The 56th Annual Session of the Asian African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) is currently underway here in Nairobi.
The meeting brings together more than 400 delegates from 47 governments from Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
During the opening ceremony on Tuesday, Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto urged AALCO member countries to work together in containing illegal wildlife trade.
He asked governments represented at the summit to strengthen their information sharing capacity to help curb the illegal trade.
The deputy president termed the illegal trade in the wide range of wild fauna and flora, as a fast growing international organized crime.
