Liberian the youngest pilot Captain at Delta Airlines, a major American airline

31 year old Liberian man, Gamaliel Mercus, an emerging young pilot from Liberia has emerging as the youngest pilot Captain from Liberia, reports the Daily Observer.
An aircraft must always have a nominated pilot who is in overall charge of the aircraft, this pilot is the Captain.
The Liberian has attributed his professional success to Southeastern Oklahoma State University in the United States courtesy of his father, Christopher Neyor, former president of National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL).
“I chose aviation management because it allowed me to mix my first passion, aviation, with something else I was interested in, business,” Neyor said. “I tell everyone I was very fortunate to know what I have always wanted to do from a very young age.”
He graduated cum laude from Southeastern with a degree in Aviation Management and a minor in Business in 2007.
Neyor says his success stems from timing, luck and being responsive to opportunities when they present themselves.
Neyor keeps in his mind is that one day, “I will return to Liberia and contribute to the development agenda.”
