Malawian woman killed by car in South Africa
A Malawian woman has reportedly died after a car hit her in Cape Town, South Africa.
The incident comes a day after CGTN Africa reported on the rising amount of road deaths in South Africa that have cost the state “billions”.
Christopher Nkhoma, a Malawian man currently residing in the country, identified the woman as Edina, 32, and said that she was living in Cape Town.
Nkhoma said that the car had hit Edina as she was trying to cross a road to reach her workplace.
“She left her home going to her workplace and unfortunately when she was crossing the road she was hit by a car and died on the spot,” Nkhoma said.
The deceased hailed from Mangochi in the Southern Region of Malawi.
Her body is currently in mortuary for postmortem awaiting instruction on where her remains will be laid to rest.
