French President Francois Hollande has granted citizenship to 28 Africans who fought for France during the Second World War and other conflicts.
Hollande said France owed them a debt of blood. Many of the veterans are from Senegal.
They’re now between the ages of 78 and 90. They received their new certificates of citizenship in Paris.
Campaigners have been calling for more rights for veterans. France has been criticised for its treatment of veterans, especially from Africa.
