President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to promote local brands and products to create more employment opportunities for the youth.
He made the comments while touring United Aryan, a garment factory in Nairobi. Recently, Kenyatta led citizens in the ‘Buy Kenya, Build Kenya’ campaign where hundreds lined up to buy locally produced goods. Kenyatta says expansion of such companies will create more jobs. The apparel and textile sector in Kenya has created approximately 22,000 jobs over the past three years.
The government believes it has the potential to create another 100,000.
