Read < 1 minute

A little earlier we spoke to Congolese government spokesperson Lambert Mende on the line in Kinshasa. We asked him to confirm that two Caucasian bodies have been uncovered in the Kasai region.

The two bodies, one male and one female, believed to match the missing United Nations experts kidnapped in the DRC were discovered authorities said Tuesday.

The experts – Michael Sharp, a US citizen, and Zaida Catalan, a Swedish national – have been missing since 12 March after they were instructed by the UN Security Council to investigate reports of human rights violations in restive Kasaï Central province.
