The second edition of the annual African Economic Platform will be held in Mauritius for the second consecutive time in 2018, coinciding with the country’s 50th independence anniversary celebrations.

The inaugural edition of the platform drew to a close on Tuesday, with a raft of resolutions made, most of which put a lot of emphasis on the empowerment of the continent’s youth and the eradication of trade barriers all across Africa.

The platform even had time for a select group of youth from across the continent to present their innovations to the delegates and the African leaders that were present.

The host nation’s Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth expressed his joy at the chance given to his country, saying he is already looking forward to hosting the various African leaders and holding deliberations with them.

Some of the African leaders that attended the inaugural edition of the AEP include Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, the African Union Commission’s chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat, Namibia’s prime Minister

Mahamat pledged to use his influence as the AUC chairperson to ensure that the raft of resolutions penned down in Port Louis are all implemented.
