Nigeria’s President officially resumes work after sick leave
President Muhammadu Buhari resumed duty as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Monday, after 51 days of vacation in London where he sought medical attention.
The President has formally transmitted letters to the Senate and the House of Representatives in compliance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution.
“I have resumed my functions as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with effect from Monday, March 13, 2017, after my vacation,” read the statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Monday

Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said on Monday he had handed back work to President Muhammadu Buhari following the latter’s return from medical leave in Britain according to Reuters
“We just had a very long meeting … basically trying to bring the president up to speed as to some of the things we have done while he was away,” Osinbajo told reporters.
“By and large, practically everything I discuss fully with him and have his endorsement before we are able to go on and do anything at all,” he added.
Buhari, 74, returned to Nigeria last week Friday after nearly two months’ medical leave in Britain, saying he “couldn’t recall being so sick since I was a young man”.
