Rwanda holds monthly mandatory Community Service day

Rwanda has dedicated every last Saturday of the month as a mandatory community service day where people both ordinary and leaders come together to do community work

Umuganda as it is called in the East African country givea an opportunity to adults between the ages of18 and 65-years-old to give back to the community from 8 am to 11 am.

This Saturday being the last in the month of February, President Paul Kagame and the First Lady joined residents of Simbwa Cell, Kabarore Sector, Gatsibo District in the monthly communal work to build a primary school. The President pledged to distribute laptops and access to ICT to the school that will serve 300 children once complete.

“We are building this school to ensure that our children do not have to walk long distances to have access to schools” said the President during the community work
