South African football club, Orlando Pirates, has ended its search for a new coach after announcing the appointment of Kjell Jonevret to the position on Monday morning on a three year contract.

54-year-old Swede Kjell Jonevret who has previously coached Molde FK and Viking FK was appointed following the Club’s operating without a head coach for nearly four months .

“I would like to say that I know SA football fantastically well. But I have been down here to watch a few games,” said Jonevret at the press conference in Johannesburg

Jonevret has played professional football in Sweden for 13 years, beginning his career with local club, IF Brommapojkarna. He moved into football management in 1993 with a post at Vasalunds IF and picked up his first silverware at Djugardens in 2005 winning the Swedish League title and (Domestic Cup) Svenska Cupen according to enca.

Jonevret replaces Muhsin Ertugral, who left the job following a 6-1 drubbing by SuperSport United in November last year.

The Swedish coach will be assisted by Mamelodi Sundowns legend Harold “Jazzy Queen” Legodi as Bradley Carnell‚ who was assistant to Muhsin Ertugral and caretaker coach Augusto Palacios‚ has requested that he be allowed to leave to pursue a career in Europe
