Ghana’s newly elected President Nana Akufo-Addo will deliver his first State of the Nation address on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

President Nana Akufo-Addo in a letter addressed to the speaker of Parliament earlier, notified the house of his intention to deliver the address on the floor of Parliament in accordance with article Article 67 of the Constitution according to Citi fm.

The President’s address is expected to give an outlook of the country’s economy from the last fiscal year by the former President John Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC) government. In addition the President will outline his vision for the development of the country for the next fiscal year.

Akufo-Addo, who won last December’s presidential poll, will be expected to among other things outline his policies to address the ailing economy and how to implement his electoral promises such as the one district, one district, one factory policy.

The Head of State is expected to expound on his free education policy, which had already been rolled out to commence in the next academic year.

So far the President has assured Ghanaians that the first budget presentation of his government will contain policies and initiatives aimed at putting the ailing economy back on track.

“Being a new government in power, I can assure you that, our first budget will outline ways of fixing the economy. I assure you that my government will work towards building the nation. All these policies will also support individual business growth and create more jobs. It is going to be challenging; but we will see it through since we as a party are committed to development.” Said President Nana Akufo-Addo while addressing the Ghanaians in Banjul, Gambia on Saturday after attending the inauguration ceremony of President Adama Barrow
