Cameroonian forward Christian Bassogog has become the latest player to move to the Chinese Super League, joining Henan Jianye FC for a club record transfer fee.

The former Aalborg player was named the Africa Cup of Nations’ MVP after eye-catching performances that saw Cameroon lift the AFCON trophy in Gabon.

The 21-year-old leaves Aalborg – where he was also signed for a record fee – after 17 months.

He featured 30 times for the Danish club, scoring four goals in that spell.

Bassogog became both the most expensive player in Jianye’s history after his acquisition cost the Chinese side about $6.3 million. The deal as well broke the record for a deal involving a Danish Super League club.

Henan finished 13th in their previous  Super League campaign and Bassogog becomes their second capture from the Danish topflight after they snatched defender, Edigeison Gomes from Esbjerg two years ago.
