Condom use article lands Sudanese journalist in trouble

An article on condom use has put a Sudanese woman journalist in trouble, the Africa Review reports.
Ms Shamail Alnour has been accused of going against Islamic values in her article on the use of condom as a protection against the HIV/AIDS scourge. The piece explained how condoms could help stem the rising cases of infections in the predominantly Muslim state.
There were strong reactions with radical Islamic leader Mohamed Ali Algizoli accusing Ms Alnour of apostasy and has called on the authorities to prosecute her. This crime is punishable by a death sentence in the country.
Journalist groups and the opposition have thrown their weight behind Ms Alnour by organising solidarity campaigns.
