India’s Vice President expected to make an official visit to Uganda

India’s Vice President, Shri M Hamid Ansari, is expected to pay a three-day official visit to Uganda early next week according to the India’s Ministry of External Affairs, reports the New Vision.

The VP will be in Uganda from 21-23 February 2017, in the company of his wife Smt. Salma Ansari, senior Indian government officials including Shri Vijay Sampla, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment; four members of Parliament and a media team.

Shri M Hamid Ansari will hold talks with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Uganda Vice President Edward Ssekandi. He is scheduled to meet with the Indian community in the Ugandan capital of Kampala.

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, bilateral relations between India and Uganda are characterised by historical cultural linkages, extensive economic and trade interests, and a convergence on major bilateral and international issues.
