American pop star Madonna has filed for the adoption of two more children from Malawi.

The 58-year-old appeared before a High Court in Lilongwe on Wednesday to make the application.

The American has previously adopted two children from the African country: David Banda in 2006 and Mercy James in 2009.

The star has two other children – Lourdes and Rocco – from previous relationships.

Madonna will have to wait for a week before hearing the decision on her application.

The pop star in 2006 founded the charity Raising Malawi to address the poverty and hardship endured by this southern African country’s orphans and vulnerable children.
