President Jammeh says he will only step down in May

Gambian President Yayha Jammeh says he will only step down after the country’s Supreme Court rules on the disputed elections. That’s only expected in May.
The Gambian leader has also slammed what he is calling foreign interference in the wake of the vote.
Regional mediators are meant to hold talks with the President on Friday – to convince him to step down when his mandate ends later this month.
The delegation will be led by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.
Jammeh lost the elections to opposition leader Adama Barrow. Initially, he said he would step down, but later reversed that decision.
Jammeh lodged the case before the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice has suggested mediation to resolve the on-going impasse.
