Chinese President Xi Jinping has pledged to facilitate more investment in Zimbabwe, saying that he is willing to encourage more Chinese companies to invest in the Southern African country.
President Xi made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Xi told Mugabe that his country appreciated Zimbabwe’s firm support on issues related to its core interests and major concerns.
The Chinese president said his country will continue to support Zimbabwe in safeguarding its national sovereignty, security and development interests, as well as support the development path chosen by the Zimbabwean people.
President Xi visited Zimbabwe in December 2015 before attending the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Johannesburg, South Africa, in which he announced a series of plans to enhance China-Africa cooperation.
Xi said that the outcomes of the summit and the consensus between him and Mugabe on lifting ties are being actively implemented.
