Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi meets with Malagasy President on mutual cooperation
Madagascar’s President Hery Rajaonarimampianina has met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in the capital Antananarivo.
The president expressed his commitment to enhancing cooperation with China under the Belt and Road initiative.
The president said his country adheres to the one-China policy and has mutual support with China on issues of core interest.
He said he hoped to work more closely with China under the Belt and Road initiative so that Madagascar can become a key part of the international infrastructure project.
Wang Yi also held talks with Malagasy Foreign Minister Beatrice Atallah. Wang Yi expressed China’s willingness to improve relationship with Madagascar as this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties.
The cooperation will be mainly in agriculture, fishery, industry, tourism and regional aviation industry. After their meetings the two Foreign Ministers held a press conference.
