Big name stars missing in Cameroon’s AFCON squad

The Cameroonian football team to represent the West African nation at the African Cup of Nations tournament in Gabon this month has been unveiled.

Coach Hugo Broos announced the Indomitable Lions’ final squad to travel for the continental showpiece starting January 14.

Broos was however deprived of the services of key Cameroonian stars as they opted to remain with their clubs.

Some of the top players whop have opted out of the team are; Joel Matip (Liverpool), Eric Maxime Choupo-Moting (Schalke )$), Andre Onana of Ajax Amsterdam, Guy Roland Ndy Assembe (Nancy), Allan Nyom (West-Bromwich-Albion), Maxime Poundje (Girondins-Bordeaux), Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (Olympique-Marseille) and Ibrahim Amadou (Lille).

The West African giants are pooled in Group A alongside hosts Gabon, Burkina Faso and Guinea Bissau.
