Nigerian returning from Brazil caught with £3.8m worth of cocaine in foot wears

A 34-year old Nigerian motorcycle parts dealer has been arrested over the weekend by anti-narcotics agents with 9.150kg of cocaine, sealed in the soles of foot wears he was importing into the country.
The Enugu State born suspect, Okolo Emenike was arrested during the inward screening of passengers on a Turkish airline flight from Brazil at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Vanguard reports.
Emenike explained to the police that he had been offered 1million Naira by a friend to smuggle the drugs into the country.
He had left for Brazil in search for greener pastures as his business was failing due to recession, but things got difficult as he could not secure a job, hence opted to return home.
The friend paid his ticket and gave him three bags of shoes containing cocaine. Upon arrival at the Abuja airport the cocaine was detected and was hence arrested.
Emenike is expected to be charged to court soon.
