Business picks up in Maiduguri as threat of Boko Haram reduces

Read < 1 minute

Night markets have resurfaces in Maiduguri, the capital of Nigeria’s northeast state of Borno.

3 years ago, the city was pretty much shut down as residents fled wave after wave of attacks by the militant group, Boko Haram. The group has waged a 7-year-old insurgency aimed at creating a Caliphate and killing at least 10,000 people.

Residents of the state now seem to be putting all that behind them and are rebuilding the capital.
