Tentative transition deal announced following deadly protests in the DR Congo

A deal has almost been reached in the Democratic Republic of Congo which would see President Joseph Kabila leave office by the end of next year.

The unexpected breakthrough comes after at least 40 people died in anti-government protests this week.
