South Sudan will begin introducing passports with new security features by 2017

According to South Sudan’s Director for the Department of Immigration, Nationality and Passports, the new passports will have coded security features that will make it hard to forge.

The new security features will also be enhanced to discourage the usage of passport for crime related purposes.

“We have checked that anything [feature] which is not included has to be included. We want to add more security features because crimes involving the use of passports are increasing across the world,” said the Immigration Department’s DG, Lt General Majak Akech to eye radio.

Akech further added that the passport will retain current form but will have a more unique display of authenticity.

The World’s youngest nation first introduced passports and identity cards in 2012. The passport allows one to enter 38 countries in the world without previous visa arrangements.
