South Sudan’s Salva Kiir meets Jacob Zuma in Pretoria to discuss peace deal

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir has once again called for warring sides in his country to implement a mediated peace agreement.

President Kiir has been on a visit to South Africa where met with President Jacob Zuma in Pretoria.

The South African government has played an important role in negotiations toward a lasting peace in South Sudan.

Kiir’s bitter rival Riek Machar is also in South Africa, but for medical treatment.

The former South Sudanese first vice president also wants to meet with President Zuma and his Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, to reportedly tell his side of the story.
