5 bodies remain unidentified following train accident in Cameroon
A month later and some five unidentified bodies still remain in morgues in Cameroon’s capital Yaoundé following the ghastly train derailment, Public Health minister said.
Mr Andre Mama Fouda called on families in search of relatives to contact the concerned hospitals for collection and burial.
Close to 100 people were killed and at least 600 others were injured after the train accident on October 21 at Eseka near Yaoundé.
Mr Fouda said in a statement that five bodies and two amputated lower limbs remained unidentified.
The country’s President Paul Biya appointed an inquiry commission to investigate the train disaster and they are expected to submit its findings on Thursday.
President Biya on October 25 appointed the eight-member commission, headed by Prime Minister Philemon Yang, with a 30-days mandate to investigate the cause of the derailment and propose measures to avoid future tragedies.
